The Colorado Choir
Founded in 1976, The Colorado Choir is one of the most dynamic influences in the Colorado music scene, specializing in performing significant compositions for a cappella choir.
Since 2015, I have worked with The Colorado Choir to modernize and increase their online presence and marketing efforts. With each passing year, their audience has grown (other than during the pandemic), the number of auditions to join the choir has increased, and their online reach through their newsletter and social media channels has grown enormously.
See below for my specific work with the choir.

Website Design and Maintenance
When I first met The Colorado Choir’s in 2014, their website was HTML-based. The look was dated and it was difficult and cumbersome to edit.
In 2015, I redesigned their site, updating the look and adding ecommerce functionality, updated concert and audition information, and a more robust information section for the members of the choir.
In 2018, I redesigned the site again, modernizing it and continuing to both streamline and expand the content. In 2022, I switched from the OnePress theme to Divi to make the site even easier to edit and customize. The site is updated weekly.
Additionally, I set up and maintain a number of custom email addresses for the choir and handle their domain renewal and cloud backups.
YouTube Channel/Video Editing
In 2020, with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked with Kelly Parmenter, the choir’s conductor/artistic director, to put select songs on YouTube. We started with just music and a static image.
For Christmas 2020 and Spring 2021 we created two virtual concerts of past music as a way for the choir to remain engaged with their audiences and raise some funds since they still couldn’t sing safely.
Out of those two concerts grew fancier videos to post to YouTube, and most months I create new content for their channel.
I created and posted every video that appears on their channel and continue to update it.
eCommerce
In 2015, I created an online shop for the Choir’s CD sales. At the time, all tickets were paper-based, but in 2016 I set it up to also sell tickets through their web store.
In 2022, finding WooCommerce cumbersome for tickets, I researched platforms and switched the choir to TicketSpice, which they have used since. I create ticketing pages as needed for each of their concerts and livestream offerings and attach them to the choir’s website.
After each concert I run reports on ticket sales and compile them with and compare them to previous years’ sales.
Design
I began to provide design services to the choir in 2016 starting with the redesign of their logo for their 40th anniversary season, and later adding the creation of custom social media and website graphics, poster and ticket design, and program design.

Livestream
In 2022, I worked with the choir’s concert venues to set up ticketed livestreams of their concerts. The livestream was available both live and for one month after each concert. The livestream enabled the choir to reach out-of-town audience members for the first time, as well as local homebound audience members. They plan to continue offering livestreams in the future.
Writing
In addition to writing the website and newsletter content, I occasionally work with the choir’s artistic director/conductor to write promotional posts for local blogs.
Example Projects for The Colorado Choir

Social Media
In 2016, I took over the choir’s social media channels. At the time, they just had Facebook. I added Twitter (now X), Google+ (now defunct), Instagram, and LinkedIn. In addition to posts, I create events on Facebook and stories on Instagram and Facebook. I also create events for them on Nextdoor at concert time.
I also created and manage the choir’s Google My Business profile and their profile on Yelp.
Over the years, others have helped post on occasion, but not often.
